Sophomore defenseman Caitlin Hewes scored a goal for the Huskies

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team suffered a 5-1 non-conference loss to No. 2 Harvard on the road, Tuesday night. The Crimson (14-1-1) ran its unbeaten streak to 11 games, while the Huskies (3-17-2) have dropped three straight.

Harvard jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind first-period goals by Jillian Dempsey and Kaitlin Spurling. UConn trimmed the lead to one late in the period on sophomore Caitlin Hewes' third goal of the season, assisted by classmate Kayla Campero.

Dempsey later added a second goal on a power play chance early in the second. Kalley Armstrong led all players with three points, collecting three assists, while LIndsey Fry added two.

Junior Sarah Moses stopped 39 shots in goal for Connecticut, while Laura Bellamy and Molly Tissenbaum combined for nine saves on the other end.

The Huskies return to action this weekend with a home Hockey East series against New Hampshire beginning Saturday at 1:00 pm.
