BOSTON - Four skaters scored a goal for the No. 3/4 Boston University women's ice hockey team as the Terriers topped Northeastern, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.

BU (18-3-3, 13-2-1 WHEA) extended its unbeaten streak to 13 games (11-0-2) and claimed the season series against Northeastern (14-10-2, 8-7-1 WHEA). The Terriers also extended their win streak to seven games dating back to Jan. 8.

Sophomore Kayla Tutino and junior Louise Warren each had a goal and an assist, while senior Isabel Menard added three assists. Freshman Sarah Lefort scored her 15th goal of the season, with senior Jenelle Kohanchuk also lighting the lamp for BU. Junior Kerrin Sperry made 23 saves, including 10 in the third period, for her 15th win of the season.

Warren scored just 45 seconds into the proceedings to give BU a 1-0 lead. She began the play by collecting the puck in her own zone and beginning the rush. She fired the puck to Tutino, who then got it back to Warren. The junior forward then made a great cut to the net and went to her backhand to beat Northeastern netminder Kelsey O'Sullivan (17 saves).

Less than eight minutes later, BU struck on the power play when Lefort deftly deflected a Shannon Doyle shot past O'Sullivan. Senior co-captain Jill Cardella collected the secondary assist on the play. The Huskies responded just 19 seconds later when Kelly Wallace scored to cut the Terrier lead to 2-1.

Tutino notched the eventual game-winning goal at the 13:26 mark of the second stanza. She started the rush into the offensive end before dishing the puck to Menard. The senior forward found Warren in the right circle. From her knees, Warren backhanded the puck to Tutino at the top of the crease, who finished the play with her 12th tally of the season.

Kohanchuk made it a 4-1 lead a mere 37 seconds later when Menard collected a turnover forced by junior Kaleigh Fratkin and carried the puck to the bottom of the left circle. From there, she slid the puck to Kohanchuk, who blasted a shot from between the circles that cleanly beat O'Sullivan.

The Huskies scored late in the stanza to make it a 4-2 game heading into the third period when Kendall Coyne converted a second-chance opportunity.

Despite taking five penalties in the final frame, the BU penalty kill combined with Sperry to allow zero goals on six shots. Northeastern pulled its goaltender with 1:10 remaining in regulation in favor of an extra attacker, but the Terriers stood strong in their own zone and maintained a scoreless third period.

The two teams will be back in action on Tuesday when BU visits Northeastern in the opening round of the 35th annual Women's Beanpot. The Terriers and Huskies will face off at 8 p.m., while Boston College and Harvard will play the first game of the evening at 5 p.m.
