BOSTON - Four different skaters scored for the No. 6 Boston University women's ice hockey team as the Terriers defeated McGill, 4-1, in an exhibition contest on Sunday at Walter Brown Arena.

Freshmen Jordan Juron and Rebecca Russo each scored, with Russo's tally coming on a penalty kill. Senior co-captain Jill Cardella and sophomore Kayla Tutino tallied the other two Terrier goals.

Junior Kerrin Sperry played the first two periods between the pipes and made 15 saves. Senior goaltender Alissa Fromkin took over in the third period and made four saves.

After a scoreless first period, Russo put the Terriers ahead, 1-0. As the Terriers killed off the remaining seconds of a Juron penalty, Tutino forced a turnover in her own zone. The puck landed on Russo's stick in the neutral zone, and she skated in alone on McGill goaltender Andrea Weckman (21 saves). The freshman forward made a nice move to get Weckman out of position and slot the puck in the back of the net.

The Terriers added to their lead at the 7:08 mark of the stanza when Juron sent a wrister into the top right corner. Juniors Louise Warren and Meghan Riggs each assisted on Juron's goal. The Martlets closed the period with a goal when Leslie Oles slammed in her own rebound to make it a 2-1 game entering the third period.

The Terriers scored their two third-period goals late in the frame. Tutino made it a 3-1 game at the 16:16 mark when she fired home a shot from between the circles. Cardella closed the scoring at the 17:57 mark with a power play goal. Junior Kaleigh Fratkin and freshman Diana Bennett each assisted on that goal.

BU will open its regular season on Friday (Oct. 5) when the Terriers travel down Commonwealth Avenue for a date with the No. 4 Boston College Eagles. BU bested BC, 5-2, in the Hockey East semifinals in March. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
