Senior forward Brittany Dougherty scored two goals for the Black Bears

Bemidji, Minn. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 draw against Bemidji State University on Saturday night. The Black Bears win the shootout 2-1. Maine slides to 2-7-1 on the season with Bemidji State moving to 2-6-2.

Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Michigan) notched the first goal of the game, as she was able to beat the goal at 14:50 into the first period for a 1-0 Black Bear lead. Chloe Tinkler (Wabush, Newfoundland) picked up the assist on the Dougherty goal.

Mackenzie Thurston ties the game at 1-1, scoring 15:32 into the first period with an assist from Danielle Williams.

The first period would end in a 1-1 tie.

Lauren Merkley gave the Beavers a 2-1 lead at 9:20 of the second period. Emily Erickson and Allie Duellman tallied the assist on the score.

The second period ended with a 2-1 Bemidji lead.

Dougherty notched her second goal of the contest, finding the back of the net on the unassisted try 7:17 into the third period.

Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie. The 5:00 minute overtime period went scoreless as either team failed to net the puck.

Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) and Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minnesota) were able to capitalize on the shootout opportunity.

Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Michigan) anchored the Black Bear defense between the pipes as she allowed two goals (one shootout goal) while posting 36 saves. Ott sees her record slide to 2-2-1.

Jessica Havel gets the start for Bemidji in net as she allowed two goals (two shootout goals) while notching 14 saves. Havel sees her record move to 1-1-1 on the season.

Maine returns to action on November 17 as it hosts New Hampshire for a 12:00 PM puck drop. The Black Bears will travel for a neutral site game on November 22 against the Russian National Team in Lewiston Maine. Game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
