VERMONT CATAMOUNTS DEFEATED BY DARTMOUTH BIG GREEN, 5-2

Junior forward Erin Wente scored a goal for the Catamounts

HANOVER, N.H. - Camille Dumais had a goal and two assists to lead the Big Green to a 5-2 victory over the Vermont women's hockey team in non-conference action Tuesday night at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth scored three first period goals in a five-minute span, as the Catamounts fall to 3-11-6 on the year.

Junior Erin Wente gave the Catamounts the early edge when she made it 1-0, 7:50 into the first period with her fifth goal of the season. Breanne Sundquist and Chelsea Rapin recorded assists on the play. The home team answered at the 13:16 mark of the first period as Samantha Zeiss scored her first goal of the season.

The Big Green took the lead at the 18:16 mark of the first period with an Ali Winkel shorthanded tally. Dartmouth struck again 25 seconds later as Reagan Fischer scored what proved to be the game-winner giving the Big Green a two-goal lead heading into the first intermission with her third of the season.

The Catamounts struck back 11:35 into the second period. Freshman defenseman Delia McNally scored her first career goal to bring Vermont within one. Greer Vogl and Emily Walsh were credited with assists on the play.

Midway through the second period Vermont made a planned goaltending switch with Kelci Lanthier replacing Roxanne Douville. Douville made 15 saves in 30 minutes of action.

Jenna Hobelka scored with 1:13 left in the second period to restore the Big Green's two-goal lead entering the third. Late in the third period Dumais added an insurance marker with the Vermont goaltender out for the extra attacker.

Dartmouth goaltender Katie Milligan earned the win making 16 saves, Lanthier made 17 saves in relief for Vermont.

Vermont closes out its non-conference schedule next Tuesday when the Catamounts travel to take on St. Lawrence at 7 p.m.

NOTES: Vermont's loss snapped its three-game unbeaten streak ... The Catamounts are now 2-3-3 when scoring first.
