Senior goaltender Genevieve Lacasse made 28 saves for the Friars

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Providence College women's ice hockey team fell to host Clarkson, 3-0, Saturday at Cheel Arena.

Clarkson took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Just four minutes into the first period, the Golden Knights' Shelby Nisbet got free in front and scored point blank. Seven minutes later, at the 10:55 mark, Clarkson's Hailey Wood scored from the point while on the power play.

After a scoreless middle period, the Knights added to the deficit early in the third. Again on the power play, Clarkson's Carly Mercer lifted in a rebound at the 2:12 mark for the game's final score.

Friar goaltender Genevieve Lacasse finished with 28 saves. Knight netminder Erica Howe stopped 18 shots.

The Friars return to action tomorrow, October 9, with a visit to St. Lawrence University. Face-off with the Saints is scheduled for 1 p.m. and an audio broadcast will be available on Friars.com. Providence returns home next weekend, October 15 and 16, for a pair with #8 Mercyhurst.
