STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team played its fifth overtime game of the season and for the fifth time walked away with a tie. UConn played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Brown at the Freitas Ice Forum on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies record now stands at 3-13-5, while the Bears exit at 5-5-6.

Freshman Kayla Campero (Wallingford, Conn.) extended her goal scoring streak to four games as she netted the first of the game just 2:06 into the contest. Redshirt-sophomore Maggie Walsh (Bloomfield, Conn.) and freshman Emily Snodgrass (Eagan, Minn.) each assisted on the score.

In the last four games, Campero has scored five of UConn's six goals and lifted her season total to six tallies.

Brown tied the game midway through the third period on a play that started with a shot by junior Alena Polenska that was turned away and ended with senior defenseman Jacquie Pierri sneaking the puck into the net for the equalizing score.

Sophomore goaltender Nicole Paniccia (Oakville, Ont.) earned her second straight start and totaled 37 saves, including saves on all 15 shots she faced in the second period. For the Bears, sophomore Aubree Moore gave up the goal to Campero on the first shot she saw and then stopped each of the next 25 from the Huskies.

For the game, Brown outshot Connecticut 38-26. The Bears were 0-5 on the power play, while the Huskies were 0-3.

UConn returns to action on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 pm against Union at home for its final non-conference match-up of the season.

At the U-18 IIHF World Championship in the Czech Republic, head coach Heather Linstad and Team USA went home with the silver medal after falling to Canada, 3-0, in the championship bout.
