Sophomore forward Taylor Wasylk had two goals and an assist for the Eagles

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of No. 6 Boston College at the Freitas Ice Forum on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies dropped to 4-20-7 overall and 3-12-3 in Hockey East, while the Eagles improved to 20-8-3 and 12-4-2.

Freshman Emily Field opened the scoring for BC with a power play goal 7:52 into the first period. The Eagles scored just 35 seconds later when junior Ashley Motherwell lit the lamp and Boston College was able to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.

During the first intermission, Connecticut honored Cristin Allen ('10), Jennifer Chaisson ('11), Jaclyn Hawkins ('08), Tiffany Owens ('05), Kaitlyn Shain ('06) and Natalie Vibert ('07) as the members of UConn's Hockey East All-Decade Team.

BC netted three goals in the third period en route to the 5-0 win. Sophomore Taylor Wasylk scored twice and freshman Alex Carpenter found the back of the net on a power play opportunity.

The Huskies entered the game number one in the nation in penalty kill, but allowed two scored on four Boston College power plays.

Sophomore goaltender Nicole Paniccia (Oakville, Ont.) was pulled in favor of senior Alexandra Garcia (Pointe-Clair, Que.) late in the third period after making 23 save and allowing five goals. Garcia made all nine of her saves in the third period. For the Eagles, redshirt-junior Corrine Boyles kept the Huskies out of her net all afternoon with 23 saves.

UConn and BC take to the ice for a rematch tomorrow at 2:00 pm in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
