PITTSBURGH - Stephanie Gavronsky and Alyssa Wohlfeiler each tallied their first goal of the season as the Northeastern Huskies downed the Robert Morris Colonials, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Consol Energy Center.

Lori Antflick and Rachel Llanes also scored for Northeastern as the Huskies won their second game in a row and improved to 3-1-1 on the season.

Gavronsky wasted no time putting Northeastern ahead, 1-0. Just 3:01 into the first period, Llanes and Brittany Esposito combined to find the junior blue-liner, who beat Colonials' goaltender Daneca Butterfield (25 saves).

Robert Morris responded over a minute later when Brianna Delaney found younger sister Cobina, who snuck a shot past Husky goaltender Florence Schelling (23 saves) to knot the score, 1-1.

The Huskies finished the period strong when Antflick notched her second goal of the season to put Northeastern ahead, 2-1. Katie MacSorley and Casey Pickett added assists.

The Huskies' offense came alive at the end of the second period to put the game out of reach. After a Whitney Pappas strike tied the game, 2-2, Llanes tallied her third goal of the season, with assists from Wohlfeiler and Julia Marty.

Northeastern made it 4-2 when Wohlfeiler lit the lamp thanks to an assist from Claire Santostefano. The goal came with one second left in the period, which happened the previous day when Maggie DiMasi tallied a goal at the 19:59 mark of the second period.

Robert Morris added a power play goal late in the third, but the Huskies staved off a comeback attempt and Schelling earned her second win of the season. Northeastern outshot the Colonials, 29-26.

Northeastern returns home this Friday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Princeton in the Huskies' home opener. The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m., and fans can catch all the action on GoNU.TV.
