NORTHEASTERN SHUT OUT BY QUINNIPIAC, 4-0

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Huskies suffered their first setback of the season as Quinnipiac defeated Northeastern, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats improve to 3-0-0 while Northeastern drops to 1-1-1.

Quinnipiac got on the board quickly when Kelly Babstock lit the lamp just 3:56 into the first period. The Bobcats added to their lead at the 18:06 mark of the first when Erica Uden Johansson potted her second goal of the season to make it 2-0.

Quinnipiac added its third goal at the 10:37 juncture of the second period when the Bobcats capitalized on a power play. Jordan Elkins took a feed from Brittany Lyons and beat junior goaltender Florence Schelling (16 saves) to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Bobcats converted on the power play again at the end of the second period. Kate Wheeler notched her third goal of the season with assists from Regan Boulton and Uden Johansson.

Northeastern outshot Quinnipiac, 27-20, but Bobcat goaltender Victoria Vigilanti stood tall between the pipes to earn her second shutout of the season. Sophomore forward Rachel Llanes led the Huskies with five shots on goal.

The Huskies will look to rebound next weekend when they take a trip to Robert Morris for a pair of games with the Colonials. Saturday's game is at 2 p.m., while the two teams will skate at the Pittsburgh Penguins' new home, the Consol Energy Center, on Sunday at 12 p.m.
