BOSTON COLLEGE DEFEATED BY DARTMOUTH, 6-3

Allie Thunstrom scored two goals for the Eagles

HANOVER, N.H. - The Boston College women's hockey team fell to Dartmouth 6-3 on Wednesday evening at Thompson Arena in Hanover, N.H.

The Eagles drop to 5-13-9 on the season while the Big Green improves to 8-11-2.

Boston College and Dartmouth played fairly evenly for the early part of the first period with both teams trading scoring opportunities. Senior Allie Thunstrom got the scoring started for the Eagles at 16:42 in the first frame with an assist from sophomore Andrea Green to give BC a 1-0 lead.

BC jumped out to a 2-0 lead very early in the second period off an unassisted goal by freshman Kristina Brown to give the Eagles some breathing room. The Big Green found its stride not long after, however, and responded with four unanswered goals to set the score at 4-2. Thunstrom gave BC one last boost before the period ended to put a shot into the back of the net with only nine seconds remaining in the frame.

The Big Green would add power-play goals at 1:42 and 10:33 of the third period to make the final score 6-3.

Freshman goalie Corinne Boyles made 36 saves on the evening as the Big Green outshot the Eagles 42-24.

The Eagles will return to the ice next Tuesday to battle Harvard in the opening round of the 2010 Beanpot at 8:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
