Brittany Wilson made 23 saves for the Huskies

PRINCETON, N.J. (Oct. 28, 2008) - Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont./Ottawa Inter. AA) stopped 23 shots in the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team’s 3-0 win at Princeton on Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink. This is the first victory over the Tigers in UConn program history.

The game was scoreless after the first twenty minutes of play with the Huskies firing 10 shots at Princeton's Kristen Young. UConn had eight shots during two power-play opportunities in the first period, but were unable to capitalize on the man advantage.

Just under the six minute mark of the second period, Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros Inter. AA) scored her sixth goal of the season. Binning, with the assists from Dominique Thibault (L'Original, Ont./Montreal Axion NWHL) and Brianna Uliasz (Chalfont, Pa./Taft School), gave UConn a 1-0 lead.

In the final minute of the second period, Kristen Russell (Dauphin, Minn./Parkland Panthers) capitalized on a UConn power-play opportunity, scoring her first goal of the year. Brittany Murphy (Tewskbury, Mass./Lawrence Academy) and Jody Sydor (St. Albert, Alta./Sturgeon Composite) had the assists.

Princeton had five shots in the final twenty minutes of regulation while the Huskies got nine away. Midway through the third period, Amy Hollstein (Pembroke, Mass./Lawrence Academy) scored off a pass from Thibault for the 3-0 final score.

Game Notes

- With Friday's shutout win, Brittany Wilson now has 11 career shutouts with five coming in the 2007-08 season.
