Senior Sadie Wright-Ward scored two goals for the Wildcats

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Sadie Wright-Ward scored twice as second-ranked New Hampshire rolled past Vermont, 5-0, in women's Hockey East action Saturday evening at Gutterson Fieldhouse. UNH scored four power play goals in handing the Catamounts their fifth straight defeat, the last three against nationally-ranked opponents.

The Wildcats (7-1-0, 5-0-0 Hockey East) out-shot Vermont, 31-7, in the contest but it was their power play that put away the Catamounts (4-5-0, 0-2-0). Only one of New Hampshire's goals came at even strength as UNH cashed in on four of six power play chances on the evening.

"I liked our energy and effort tonight against one of the best team's in the country especially when we were five-on-five," said Vermont coach Tim Bothwell. "They have a lot of skill and just picked us apart on the power play. 'Oly' again gave us great goaltending but we need to be more mindful of penatlies."

Sam Faber opened the scoring for the Wildcats redirecting a shot from the point by Raylen Dziengelewski past UVM goalie Kristen Olychuck (Kelowna, B.C.) at 17:28 of the first period.

In the second and third period, UNH would strike four times on the power play. Jennifer Hitchcock and Wright-Ward scored in the second stanza and Wright-Ward and Steph Holmes closed out the scoring in the third.

Kayley Herman stopped all seven shots to earn the shutout for UNH while Olychuck made 26 saves for UVM.

Vermont continues Hockey East play next weekend at Providence on Saturday at 2:00pm and at Connecticut Sunday at 2:00pm. UVM's next home game is against Maine on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00pm.
