NORTHEASTERN BLANKS TORONTO JR. AEROS, 3-0

Northeastern scored a goal in each period and freshman Sydney Arbelbide posted a 17-save shutout as the Huskies defeated the Toronto Junior Aeros, 3-0, in an exhibition game on Sunday at Matthews Arena. Colleen Sanborn, Ashley Bielawski and Nikki Petrich scored for Northeastern.

It was the Huskies second win in two days as NU beat the Bluewater Junior Hawks on Saturday, 3-0. Both wins were exhibition games, which will serve as a tune-up for Northeastern's opening series Friday and Saturday at Ohio State.

Sanborn got the Huskies out to the lead early when she scored with an assist from Jessica Coppney 3:15 into the first period. Sanborn got a slapshot over Toronto goalie Jamie Miller's right shoulder.

In the second period, Bielawski scored her third exhibition goal in two days at 12:22. She took a pass from Missy Elumba, circled around the next and wristed one in from out front to make it 2-0.

Petrich iced it for the Huskies when scored on a delayed penalty at 16:05 in the third period. She got assists from Bielawski and Mari Desrosiers.

After Northeastern's series at Ohio State, the Huskies play their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 14 against Quinnipiac, then play their first Hockey East game at Providence on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Providence fell to the Toronto Junior Aeros, 2-1, in overtime in an exhibition game Saturday.
