VERMONT TOPPED BY MINNESOTA STATE, 4-0

MANKATO, Minn. -- Minnesota State scored three times in the second period to cruise to a 4-0 win over Vermont in women's college hockey Saturday night at All Seasons Arena. The game was the first for the Catamounts since December 2nd.

After a scoreless first period, Lindsay Macy opened the scoring for the WCHA Mavericks with her ninth of the season at 3:53. Christina Lee made it 2-0 with her ninth goal just a minute and 20 seconds later. With six seconds left in the period Brittany Mackley would add another before MSU’s Maggie Fisher wrapped up the scoring in the third period.

UVM goalie Jenilee Roy (Sandown, N.H.) made 31 of her 39 saves in the first two periods as Minnesota State outshot the Catamounts, 43-13, in the contest. Britni Kehler earned her fourth shutout of the season for the Mavericks (8-11-2).

The two teams meet again Sunday at 4:00pm (Eastern) in the Catamounts (2-13-2) final non-conference game of the season.
