UCONN PICKS UP SWEEP OF VERMONT WITH 3-0 WIN

STORRS, Conn. (October 7, 2006) - Led by junior Jaclyn Hawkin's (Manotick, Ont.) two goals on the day, the University of Connectiut women's hockey team shutout Vermont 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 7, in Storrs, Conn.

The Huskies (2-0-0) came back to have another solid performance against the Catamounts after winning 8-2 the previous night. Hawkins racked up her first goal of the day in the second period at 16:17, being assisted by freshman Dominique Thibault (L'Original, Ont.) and sophomore Kristen Russell (Dauphin, Man.).

UConn kept things rolling just three minutes later in the second period behind senior Natalie Vibert's goal with assists from Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont.) and sophomore Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont.).

The final goal of the day came again from Hawkins in the third period at 17:46. Russell had her second assist of the day while senior Alicia Ramolla (Barrie, Ont.) also assisted.

Hawkins has now tallied five goals on the season in just two games. Wilson recorded 16 saves in her first shutout of this season.

UConn continues their homestand as they host Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m.
