| Schelling stopped 78 of 82 shots (.951 save%) in a 2-0-1 week for the Huskies. She earned
her fifth shutout of the year on Wednesday in a 2-0 win over No. 7 BU, in which she made
32 saves. Sunday against New Hampshire, she made 26 saves and was only beaten amidst
a six on three advantage for the Wildcats. |

Boston College: The Eagles won in overtime for the first time on Saturday…
Freshman Alex Carpenter's her seven-game point streak ended on
Sunday…The rookie tallied nine points (4g, 5a) during a stretch that was the
eighth longest in BC history…On Thursday, Carpenter, along with 2012 NLI
signees Haley Skarupa, Kaliya Johnson and Dana Trivigno, was named to the
U.S. team headed to the IIHF U18 World Championship hosted by the Czech
Republic from Dec. 30 to Jan. 7.
Boston University: BU snapped its longest losing streak (four games) since
2008 with a victory on Sunday…The Terriers scored two power play goals in
each of their two games over the weekend…BU has killed the last 22 power
play chances it has faced in league competition…The Terriers own the secondbest
PK in the nation (89.6%)…Isabel Menard had two goals and two assists
against Providence this season, while Kayla Tutino notched three goals and one
assist against the Friars this year…Tara Watchorn has a point in six of her last
eight games…The first came on Jan. 9, 2011, also against Providence…BU
has faced three of the top five goaltenders in the nation in terms of GAA this
season, and will face Florence Schelling (5th) when the Terriers close the first
semester at Northeastern on Wednesday.
University of Connecticut: Senior Alexandra Garcia started both games and
totaled 59 saves in two starts...Freshman forward Kayla Campero totaled three
goals, two on the power play, and her first career multi-goal game...UConn
snapped a 13-game winning streak vs. Vermont with a 2-2 tie on Saturday
University of Maine: The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell
to Boston College 4-3 in overtime on Saturday and 1-0 on Sunday. Goaltender
Brittany Ott made 81 saves on the 86 shots she faced during the two games
for a .942 save percentage. Kelly McDonald (Ancaster, Ontario) scored her first
two career goals in Saturday's contest, both on power plays. Danielle Ward
(Lansing, Mich.) assisted both of McDonald's goals. The Black Bears killed all
seven of the power plays Boston College had during the series.
University of New Hampshire: UNH went 1-0-1 in overtime games last week
(3-2 win vs. Union; 3-3 tie against 10th-ranked Northeastern) to remain unbeaten
in OT this season (2-0-3)…UNH has scored a power-play goal each of the last
four games (5-for-20)… In her season debut at the Whittemore Center, senior
goalie Lindsey Minton played the second, third and OT periods and stopped
26 of 27 shots to backbone UNH to a 3-3 tie vs. NU… Senior forward Emma
Clark recorded a career-high two assists Dec. 3 against Northeastern; the two
points matched a personal best… Junior forward Bryanna Farris matched her
career high of two points (1g,1a) Dec. 3 vs. NU.
Northeastern University: Freshman Kendall Coyne has scored in four straight
games, and until Sunday had scored twice in three straight; she is working on
a four-game multiple-point streak, and has scored a point in all but one of her
15 games this season…Senior Florence Schelling holds the outright national
lead with five shutouts after blanking No. 7 Boston University, 2-0, on Wednesday…
Junior tri-captain Casey Pickett is working on a four-game point streak.
She leads the nation with four short-handed goals on the year.
Providence College: The Friars' last win over a ranked opponent was January
23, 2011 against then #9 Northeastern, 2-1, at the sold-out Bog Skating Rink in
Kingston, Mass…PC and Northeastern will return to the Bog on January 15th,
2012…In addition to being one win shy of tying the Providence school record
of 58 career victories, Lacasse is three games shy of the PC mark for career
games played of 115. Both are currently held by Jana Bugden '07.
University of Vermont: Freshmen Amanda Pelkey and Meghan Huertas lead the
team in scoring with 10 points …Vermont has 37 goals this season, they had
just 44 all of last season … Catamount freshman have scored 15 of Vermont's
37 goals this season … This weekend Vermont improved to 1-5-6 at home this
season … Catamounts are 2-2-3 this season when they score first …Vermont
is riding a three-game unbeaten streak into the semester break … Vermont will
be ide for nearly a month as they take the ice again for a non-conference tilt at
Dartmouth on January 3, 2012.
