PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Tyce Thompson scored twice and added an assist, while Jaxson Stauber made 20 stops for his fourth shutout of the season as the No. 16 Providence College men's hockey team shut out No. 20 UConn, 4-0, at Schneider Arena on Friday night (Feb. 12).

NOTES
-Tyce Thompson got the Friars on the board 6:46 into the first period. Brett Berard and Nick Poisson earned the assists on Thompson's seventh goal of the season.
-At the 15:05 mark in the opening period, the Friars increased their lead 2-0 with a goal from Patrick Moynihan on the rebound. Greg Printz and Parker Ford earned the assists on Moynihan's fifth tally of the season.
-Both teams skated through the second period scoreless and Providence carried their 2-0 lead into the second intermission. Shots were even at 17-17 through the first 40 minutes.
-The scoring continued in the third at 6:14 as Thompson set up Parker Ford for a one-timer from the right circle that beat Vomacka over the glove. Poisson picked up his second assist of the day on the play.
-Providence skated man-up in the third period for five minutes after UConn's Adam Karashik earned a five-minute major for kneeing and game misconduct. The Friars couldn't convert on the major.
-The Huskies pulled Vomacka for a 6-on-4 advantage during a power play in the final minutes, but it was the Friars who cashed in as a saucer pass from UConn hopped over a defenseman's stick and into their own net. Tyce Thompson was credited with the goal, his second of the night and eighth of the season.
-Jaxson Stauber finished the night with 20 saves in his fourth shutout of the season.
-Ford and Thompson led the team in shots with six each.
-Davis Bunz appeared in his 100th career game tonight.
