CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Matt Boldy scored a pair of goals and top-ranked Boston College snapped a five-game losing skid against Maine with a 4-2 Hockey East victory on Friday night at Kelley Rink to open a weekend series.

The Eagles improved to 9-1-1 in their last 11 games and to 14-3-1 overall, while the Black Bears fell to 2-8-1. BC slightly increased its lead over BU for first place in the Hockey East standings according to the HEPI.

Boldy added to his team-leading point total (21) and led all players with six shots on goal. His opening tally came shorthanded, adding to BC's nation-leading total as a team this season (7).

Captain Marc McLaughlin posted his sixth multi-point performance of the season with a goal and an assist, giving him 20 points on the year. The junior was plus-2 on the night to lead the team and netted his team-best ninth goal.

A heavy power play drive off the crossbar from Alex Newhook midway through the third period proved to be the game-winner in the 130th all-time meeting in series history.

Spencer Knight collected his 13th win of the year between the pipes with 24 saves.

Boston College outshot Maine 32-26 and went 5-for-6 on the penalty kill, allowing a lone 5-on-3 goal in the third period.
