LOWELL, Mass. - Junior forward Chris Schutz (Keller, Texas) scored the game-winning tally with 27.5 second to go in regulation to lead the No. 8 UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 3-2 victory vs. No. 8 UMass on Friday night at the Tsongas Center in front of 6,474 fans in Hockey East play.

The River Hawks improved to 16-9-5 overall (10-6-4 HEA) with the win, while the Minutemen fall to 18-10-2 overall (11-7-2 HEA). UMass Lowell improves to 20-2-1 against under Head Coach Norm Bazin, which includes a 13-0 record against the Minutemen at the Tsongas Center.

Senior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) registered 38 saves on the night, which included 15 saves in the opening period, 13 saves in the second and 10 stops in the the third frame in his 16th win of the season for the River Hawks.

Freshman foward Carl Berglund (Hammaro, Sweden) knotted the game up at 2-2 just 7:37 into the third frame for his team-leading 12th tally of the year.

Bobby Trivigno gave the the Minutemen a 2-1 advantage midway through the second period with his ninth marker of the year.

Zach Kaiser (Orangeville, Ont.) gave the River Hawks an early lead just 4:32 into the game with his fifth tally of the season, while UMass' John Leonard tied the game on the power play with 1:33 to go in the first period for his eighth goal of the year.

Matt Murray made 19 saves in the final 46:03 for the Minutemen after he came in relief of Filip Lindberg who played the first 13:30 of the contest.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, February 22nd at UMass. Game time from the Mullins Center is 7 p.m. The game will be televised regionally on NESNplus and will be streamed nationally and internationally on CBS All-Access.
