BOSTON - Despite a two-goal outing from Grant Jozefek, the No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey team (13-7-2, 7-6-1 Hockey East) dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime to conference rival Connecticut (9-10-4, 6-7-2 Hockey East) at Matthews Arena on Saturday night.
After UConn skated out to an early 1-0 lead off a first period tally, Northeastern retaliated with a pair of second period goals from Jozefek to give the Huskies the lead moving into the final minutes of the frame. A late UConn goal at the 16:58 mark, however, locked things up once more for the remainder of regulation play.
Locked at 2-2 through three periods, the teams headed to overtime, where UConn found the back of the net with 2:49 left in extra time to claim the 3-2 decision.
Between the pipes, Craig Pantano registered a season high 41 saves in the contest, surpassing his previous mark of 37 stops earlier this season at Merrimack.
