ORONO, Maine - Mitchell Fossier scored his fourth career overtime goal to give the #17 University of Maine men's ice hockey a 1-0 victory over the University of Connecticut.
The two Hockey East schools skated to three scoreless periods to start the evening. Jeremy Swayman had 38 saves for his squad at the end of regulation, while the PK unit was perfect.
First Goal (#17 Maine 1-0): JD Greenway forced a turnover in the neutral zone and flipped the puck ahead to Tim Doherty. Doherty played a perfect pass over to Mitchell Fossier, who did the rest. The captain's overtime game winner gave Maine a 1-0 win over Hockey East rival UConn.
Notes:
- Jeremy Swayman finished with 41 saves for the Black Bears, while Tomas Vomacka tallied 25 for the Huskies.
- Maine went 0-3 on the power play, as UConn was 0-3 on their man advantages.
