Primeau And Solow Lead Northeastern To 1-0 Win At Vermont
Sophomore Cayden Primeau made 26 saves and sophomore Zach Solow scored the game's only goal for the Huskies

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Zach Solow's lone goal at 1:46 of the third period was the difference as the 13th-ranked Northeastern Huskies skated out of Gutterson Fieldhouse with a 1-0 win Friday night.

Northeastern improves to 7-3-1 and 4-1-1 in Hockey East play. Vermont drops to 3-6-0 and 1-5-0 in conference play. Friday's game was the annual Military Appreciation Night at the Gut, presented by Milton Cat.

COACH'S QUOTE

"Defensively you couldn't ask for much more out of our club and obviously Stef had a great game," said Head Coach Kevin Sneddon. "Primeau had a pretty good game for them as well. We're having trouble in the offensive zone. We sustained a lot of offensive zone pressure."

HOW IT HAPPENED

- A scoreless first period saw Vermont take a narrow 9-8 shot advantage into the first intermission. UVM had three power play chances in the opening period, but could not solve the Husky defense and Cayden Primeau (26 saves).

- Stefanos Lekkas (27 saves) made the save of the night at 14:22 of the first period on a Northeastern 2-on-1. A pass across the slot to Patrick Schule gave the Huskies a golden chance, but Lekkas dove across the crease and made the save to keep the game scoreless.

- Vermont's best chance of the second period came late following sustained offensive zone pressure and a Northeastern icing. The Huskies used their timeout with 47 seconds left and kept the Cats off the board through 40 minutes.

- Northeastern struck early in the third on a 2-on-1 following a neutral zone turnover by the Catamounts. Hawkins fired a far-side shot off of Lekkas' right pad to a crashing Solow, who buried the rebound for the goal.

- UVM pulled Lekkas with 1:15 remaining in the third period, but the Catamounts could not find a last-second hero before the horn finalized a 1-0 Northeastern win.
