Sophomore goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 17 saves for the Black Bears
Maine Shut Out By Quinnipiac, 2-0

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine Men's ice hockey team battled but ultimately came up short in the second of a weekend series against No. 10/10 Quinnipiac. The Black Bears were defeated 2-0 on Saturday night at the Alfond Arena.

The first period ended in a scoreless draw after the two goaltenders combined for 15 saves. Maine and Quinnipiac each had a chance on the power play but were unable to capitalize.

First Goal: Quinnipiac scored the first goal of the contest at 9:39 of the second. Scott Davidson's initial shot was saved by Jeremy Swayman. The rebound came out to Michael Lombardi near the post, who chipped the rebound out to Zach Metsa for his first collegiate goal.

Second Goal: The visitors extended their lead at 2:09 of the third period. With traffic in close, Ethan de Jong potted in a rebound to make it 2-0 Quinnipiac.


Notes:

- The Black Bears' penalty kill was 3-for-3 in the game.

- Maine out shot Quinnipiac again, 23 to 19.

- The defense blocked eight shots, and Jeremy Swayman made 17 saves.
