TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore forward Kenny Hausinger (Anchorage, Alaska) notched two goals and sophomore goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) recorded his third career shutout to lead the UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 4-0 victory at Arizona State on Friday night in non-conference play at Oceanside Arena.
The River Hawks improve to 13-9-0 overall, while Arizona State drops to 6-13-4 overall with the loss. UMass Lowell has scored 18 goals in its current three-game winning streak.
Hausinger added a tally with 10:58 left to play to make it a 3-0 game and then scored another on a wrap around less than four minutes later for his team-leading nine goal of the season to seal the win for the River Hawks. Hausinger and junior forward Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) each finished with a game-high five shots on goal.
Sophomore defenseman Mattias Goransson (Slottsbron, Sweden) broke the scoreless tie for the River Hawks at 6:03 of the second frame with a blast from the left circle for his third tally of the season. Redshirt freshman Chris Schutz (Keller, Texas) extended UMass Lowell's lead to 2-0 with his second career goal with 8:51 left in the period with a wrist shot from the left point. The River Hawks outshot the Sun Devils, 16-5 in the second stanza.
The teams skated to a scoreless first period with the Sun Devils owning a 9-6 shot advantage.
