PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's hockey team got a game-winning goal from Erik Foley and three points from defenseman Anthony Florentino en route to a 3-2 win over Colgate on Saturday night at Schneider Arena.

With the win, the Friars even their record at 5-5-2, while the Raiders drop to 3-7-4 overall. Hayden Hawkey made 20 saves, including multiple sparking stops in the final minute as Colgate pressed for the equalizer. The Raiders' Colton Point made 22 stops in the loss to fall to 0-1-1.

The Friars carried momentum throughout the opening 20 minutes, outshooting the Raiders by a 10-4 margin, but couldn't get one past freshman Colton Point until late in the period. Providence took the initial lead at 17:13 on a blast from the point by senior Anthony Florentino, who notched his fifth of the season and fifth in the last six games played.

Colgate's Sebastian Weberg knotted things up at one on the power play just 3:27 in as his wrister through a screen found its way past Hawkey. The Raiders looked to grab a lead just minutes later as Tyler Penner was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway by Steven Ruggiero. Penner attempted to deke but the puck rolled off his stick into the corner.

The Friars had an extra attacker on a delayed penalty and they took advantage as Scott Conway feed Josh Wilkins in the slot and he lifted a backhander over the sprawled Colton Point to put the Friars up 2-1 at 10:36 of the second period.

Providence added the eventual game-winning goal midway through the third period as Erik Foley struck for his team-leading sixth marker of the season to put the Friars up 3-1. Jake Kulevich cut the Friar lead to 3-2 on the power play with 5:31 remaining to set the stage for a frantic final five minutes.

Hawkey laid out to rob Tim Harrison's one-timer that was label for the back of the net in the final minute then followed it up with back-to-back saves on Kulevich right at the buzzer.

The Friars will host Boston University next Friday (Dec. 2) in the first leg of a home-and-home set with the Terriers. Providence will travel to Agganis Arena the following night (Dec. 3) for a rematch with Boston University.
