ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to #6 UMass Lowell on Friday night behind a pair of first period goals by Adam Chapie.

Maine was called for a penalty in the first period and UMass Lowell responded with an extra attacker on the ice. Chapie tipped a Michael Fallon shot past Maine goalie Matt Morris (Ridgewood, New Jersey) from the goal post. Chris Forney also assisted on the goal for the River Hawks.

Chapie then scored his second goal of the game on the ensuring power play via an odd-man rush with Ryan McGrath. For Chapie, it was his sixth goal of the season. Michael Kapla also registered an assist on the goal.

UMass Lowell outshot Maine 42-24 in the game. The River Hawks were 1-for-3 on the power play, while Maine was scoreless in three opportunities.

Morris made a career-high 40 saves in goal for the Black Bears. He falls to 3-5-1 on the season. Kevin Boyle stopped all 24 shots that he faced for the River Hawks. He improves to 12-2-3 on the season.

Maine falls to 7-15-1 on the season and 2-7-0 in Hockey East play. UMass Lowell improves to 15-4-3 overall, 8-1-2 in conference action.
