MADISON, Wis. - Freshman Jack Eichel turned in a four-point night (2g, 2a) to help the No. 2 Boston University men's ice hockey team close out a weekend series with a 6-1 victory over Wisconsin on Saturday evening at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers struck first, but the Terriers reeled off six straight goals to improve to 12-3-4 on the season. Wisconsin falls to 2-12-2.

Junior Danny O'Regan (2g, 1a) and senior Evan Rodrigues (1g, 2a) - Eichel's linemates for the game - each registered three points to give the line a combined 10 points. Freshman Nikolas Olsson added BU's other goal.

Making his fourth career start, freshman goaltender Connor LaCouvee made 32 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Wisconsin's Jedd Soleway got his team on the board seconds after a BU penalty expired, as he roofed a puck that was sitting in the right crease at the 2:04 mark of the middle stanza.

The lead did not last long, however, as Eichel kicked off his strong night with an impressive individual effort from the left circle to the right before finding the back of the net at 4:50. Rodrigues and O'Regan assisted on the equalizer.

BU took a lead it would not relinquish when Olsson took a pass from sophomore Nick Roberto before following up his own rebound with 7:12 left in the second period.

Just over three minutes later, Eichel buried a shot on a power play with helpers from Rodrigues and junior Matt Grzelcyk to allow the visitors to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

The Terriers turned in another three-goal period in the third to distance themselves from the Badgers.

O'Regan tipped in an Eichel offering on a power play at 7:45 of the third before the duo teamed up with BU skating shorthanded minutes later. O'Regan forced a turnover and got the puck to Eichel to create a 2-on-1 rush. After beating the defense to the crease, O'Regan knocked home a pass from Eichel just 3:47 after his power-play marker.

Rodrigues capped the scoring with 2:19 remaining in regulation to cap his three-point effort. Sophomores Robbie Baillargeon and T.J. Ryan picked up assists on the play.

Joel Rumpel made 26 saves for the Badgers, who held a slim 33-32 edge in shots. The Terriers successfully killed off all seven of the Badgers' power plays while going 2-for-4 with the man advantage.

BU will return to action on Friday (Jan. 16) when it takes on archrival Boston College at Agganis Arena in a 7 p.m start. The game will be televised by NESN.
