BOSTON, Mass. - Junior forwards Matt Lane and Ahti Oksanen lit the lamp for the top-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team, but No. 18 Harvard scored with 1:50 remaining in overtime to earn a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night at Agganis Arena.

BU (8-2-1) erased a one-goal deficit early in the third period thanks to Oksanen's team-leading eighth goal of the season and junior Matt O'Connor made a terrific stop on Jimmy Vesey's breakaway bid early in overtime to nearly secure a share of the spoils. However, Kyle Criscuolo's second goal of the game improved Harvard to 6-1-2 on the season.

Four different Terriers added an assist on Tuesday night, with freshman J.J. Piccinich collecting his first collegiate point. Senior Cason Hohmann, freshman Brandon Hickey and junior Danny O'Regan also had a helper while O'Connor stopped 21 shots for the Terriers.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Terriers struck first at the 8:57 mark of the second stanza. The goal came on their second power-play opportunity of the game thanks to some hard work in front of the Crimson crease. Hohmann fired a shot from the left circle that Steve Michalek turned aside. Piccinich maintained good body position in front of Michalek to push the rebound to Lane, who buried it from the doorstep for his third goal of the season.

Harvard countered nearly three minutes later when Vesey collected a loose puck off a faceoff victory and beat O'Connor. The Crimson then took the lead when Criscuolo converted on a power-play chance with 1:36 to play in the period.

Freshman John MacLeod had two good looks at goal late in the second period, but both of his shots were unable to find the back of the net. His first attempt was stopped, but he recovered the rebound and fired a second try that caromed off a Crimson defender and landed wide of the cage.

Oksanen leveled the score 6:43 into the final frame. O'Regan pushed the puck along to Hickey, who then moved it to Oksanen in the neutral zone. The junior forward skated to the top of the left circle and wristed the puck short side past Michalek for his team-leading eighth marker of the season.

BU will remain home for its next game on Saturday (Nov. 29) when the Terriers welcome Colgate to Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
