AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass hockey team was unable to recover from letting up three in the first and three quick goals in the second period, suffering an 8-2 setback to UMass Lowell at the Mullins Center on Sunday night. With the setback, the Minutemen fall to 3-5-1 overall, 2-5-1 in Hockey East, while the River Hawks improve to 3-5-1 on the year, 2-4-1 in conference play.

Among the five UMass players to tally points on the night, senior co-captain Rocco Carzo scored his team-leading fourth of the season, while junior Conor Sheary logged his squad-best sixth assist of the year. Both Minutemen tallies came with the man advantage, extending the squad's streak to nine straight games with at last one power-play goal.
