Senior forward Stevie Moses scored a goal for the Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's hockey team was defeated by New Hampshire, 1-0, Wednesday night in a Hockey East game played at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. Stevie Moses scored the lone goal of the game in the second period while Casey DeSmith stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead the Wildcats.

UNH (7-11-2, 5-8-1 Hockey East) took the lead at 6:41 of the second period when Moses snapped a wrist shot from the right circle past Friar senior goalie Alex Beaudry (Cumberland, Ont.). It marked Moses' 12th goal of the season as Nick Sorkin and Damon Kipp picked up assists on the play.

Both teams totaled 26 shots as Providence (8-9-2, 6-5-1 Hockey East) held a 9-6 edge in the third period. DeSmith, who was making his fifth appearance of his freshman season, earned his first career shutout. Beaudry finished with 25 stops for the Friars.

The Friars are back in action at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15 when they face the University of Vermont at the Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Wildcats will face Dartmouth at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.
