BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore defenseman Chad Ruhwedel had a goal and two assists and freshman forward Scott Wilson scored two goals to lead UMass Lowell to a 4-2 win against Boston University on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

Junior Ross Gaudet evened the score at 1-1 for BU at the 5:03 mark of the second period, but the River Hawks scored three consecutive goals to take a 4-1 lead.

Junior Max Nicastro's goal with 7:08 remaining in regulation made it 4-2 and gave the Terriers life, but the River Hawks withstood a flurry of chances by the home team. BU put 22 shots on goal in the final frame compared to just seven by Lowell.

BU, which earned a 7-4 win at Lowell on Friday, moves to 18-11-1 overall with a 14-8-1 Hockey East mark. The River Hawks (20-9-0, 15-8-0 HE) not only salvaged a weekend split, but also took the season series thanks to their home win over the Terriers back in November.

The Terriers now stand in third place in the league standings with 29 points, two points behind first-place Boston College and a point behind Lowell.

Wilson scored Lowell's first two goals and sophomore goaltender Doug Carr turned in a 39-save performance. Sophomore Daniel Furlong tallied a goal and an assist and junior Riley Wetmore earned a pair of assists.

Senior Kieran Millan made 25 saves on 29 shots before classmate Grant Rollheiser played the final 8:49 and stopped the only shot he faced.

The Terriers held a 41-30 advantage in shots and went 1-of-3 on the power play. The visitors scored on one of their five chances with the man advantage.

BU will return to action next weekend when it travels to Vermont for a two-game series against the Catamounts. The opener on Friday (Feb. 24) will be broadcast live by NBC Sports Network and will begin at 7:30 p.m. UMass Lowell opens a home-and-home series at Merrimack that night at 7 p.m.
