Senior forward Barry Almeida scored two goals for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior alternate captains Barry Almeida and Paul Carey each tallied two points to lead third-ranked Boston College in a 4-1 conference win over No. 20 Providence before 3,823 fans in Kelley Rink on Tuesday night.

Up 2-1, Carey scored an unassisted shorthanded goal to extend the host Eagles' lead with 5:15 left in the contest. Almeida, who recorded the game's first goal - a tip-in feed from Carey on the power play at 15:06 of the first period - capped the scoring on his second goal of the game into an empty net with 1:29 left on the clock for the 4-1 final.

Freshman goaltender Brian Billett recorded 16 saves, including 10 in the final frame, to capture the win. He improved to 3-0-0 on the season.

Sophomore Bill Arnold scored his 10th goal of the season, equaling his 39-game freshman goal output, with assists to freshman Johnny Gaudreau and senior captain Tommy Cross at 16:58 of the second period.

Providence sophomore Derek Army scored the lone tally for the Friars - a power-play score at 5:50 of the second period.

Senior goaltender Alex Beaudry registered 26 saves in the loss.

BC is next in action on Friday, Dec. 9 at UMass-Lowell. Game time is 7 p.m. PC returns to the ice on Jan. 1, 2012 against Brown.
