Junior forward Paul Carey scored two goals for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Paul Carey scored two goals, including one in the decisive second period, to lift ninth-ranked Boston College to a 4-1 Hockey East win over third-ranked Maine before 5,765 fans in Kelley Rink.

The win gave the host Eagles a two-game sweep of the weekend series. BC defeated Maine, 4-0, on Friday night.

BC snapped a 1-1 tie with two goals 40 seconds apart in the final two minutes of the second period. Freshman Bill Arnold gave the home team a 2-1 advantage at 18:28, and Carey netted his second goal of the afternoon at 19:08.

Carey's power-play tally at 2:02 was the only goal of the first period.

Maine sophomore Mark Nemec pulled the Black Bears even at 12:56 of the second period, before BC struck twice to gain the victory.

Junior Barry Almeida added an empty-net goal at 17:51 to close the scoring.

BC senior John Muse made 38 saves to earn his 69th career victory. Maine freshman Dan Sullivan made 19 saves in 59:12.
