Sophomore forward Steven Whitney scored two goals for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Steven Whitney scored twice, junior Cam Atkinson tallied one goal and one assist, and senior goaltender John Muse stopped 29 shots to lead No. 8 Boston College to a 5-2 Hockey East win over No. 2 Boston University before a sellout crowd of 7,884 fans at Kelley Rink.

The win gave the Eagles a two-game sweep of the weekend series. BC defeated BU, 9-5, on Friday night in Agganis Arena.

BC scored once in the first period, three times in the middle stanza and once in the final frame en route to the win.

Trailing 1-0 on a Matt Nieto score at 3:52 of the first period, Atkinson netted the equalizer - the first of three straight BC scores - at 11:46.

Junior Joe Whitney gave the team a 2-1 lead at 3:17 of the second period, redirecting a Brian Dumoulin shot from the left point, and Steven Whitney doubled the BC lead - at 3-1 - just 1:16 later.

Boston University captain Joe Pereira halved the BC lead at 5:26 before BC's Chris Kreider concluded the second-period scoring with a shorthanded goal at 8:05.

Steven Whitney scored the lone goal of the third period at 11:06 for the 5-2 final.

BC had a 34-31 shot advantage.

BU junior Kieran Millan made 29 saves to fall to 4-2. Muse improves to 10-3-0.
