BOSTON COLLEGE FALLS TO CLARKSON, 4-2

Benn Ferriero scored his seventh goal of the season for BC

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Four Clarkson players scored one goal each and goalie David Leggio made 29 saves at the 12th-ranked Golden Knights defeated No. 11 Boston College before 3,425 at Cheel Arena.

Grant Clitsome, Nick Dodge, Shea Guthrie and Matt Beca all scored for the host Golden Knights (11-6-1).

Boston College, which entered the game one a five-game winning streak, falls to 8-5-5. The Eagles next host Vermont in Hockey East action on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

BC's Nathan Gerbe opened the game’s scoring with his 16th of the season at 5:53.

Clarkson evened the score before the close of the first period (at 17:13) and added consecutive second-period tallies - at 1:20 and 16:46 - to build a 3-1 lead.

BC junior Benn Ferriero scored 22 seconds later to half the Clarkson lead before sophomore Matt Beca put the Golden Knights back up by two just nine seconds into the third period for the 4-2 final.

BC freshman goalie John Muse recorded 26 saves in his fifth loss of the season.

The visiting Eagles outshot the Golden Knights, 31-30.

Game Notes: Clarkson endowed the university's head coaching position as the "Leonard S. Ceglarski Chair," named in honor of legendary Clarkson University and Boston College hockey coach Len Ceglarski. Principal donor John McLennan and Ceglarski were recognized in a ceremony before faceoff.
