Hockey East welcomes CBS College Sports as a national TV partner |
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Hockey East Commissioner Joe Bertagna and CBS College Sports Network Executive Vice
President and General Manager Steve Herbst announced on Wednesday, a multi-year partnership with the network
beginning for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.
The network will broadcast eight Hockey East regular-season contests, plus two road games vs. CCHA opponents in
non-conference action. All 10 games will be broadcast in High Definition (HD) by the network.
"We are thrilled to have CBS College Sports Network back on board in the Hockey East family and are excited to
showcase the league across the country," said Bertagna. "They have been tremendous in welcoming us back to their
network."
"Hockey East is an elite conference, and we're excited to broadcast their teams, rivalries and traditions throughout
the season and for years to come," said Herbst. "We look forward to a great season and providing fans a compelling
line-up of Hockey East games."
CBS College Sports Network's coverage will commence in the opening weekend with New Hampshire at Miami University
on Oct. 8th in Oxford, Ohio. Maine will play at Michigan State in East Lansing the following weekend on Oct.
15 at Munn Ice Arena. The first contest broadcast from New England will be on Oct. 22 at Alfond Arena, as the Black
Bears face-off against WCHA foe North Dakota. The network will also broadcast the BC-BU home and home series on
Dec. 3 and 4 in Boston.
CBS College Sports Network's Hockey East broadcast team includes play-by-play announcer Eric Frede and analyst
Dave Starman.
The Hockey East Association is a 10-team Division I college men's hockey conference founded in 1984 and an eightteam
Division I women's league which began play in 2002-03. The men's league has won eight NCAA championships
in the past 18 years.
CBS College Sports Network annually covers 25 men's and women's sports, while providing compelling coverage of
over 250 live events each season, in addition to a variety of studio shows and award winning original programming.
